Youth Programs
Not- So Socially Conscious Youth is a seven-week leadership development training program for young people ages 13-17. The purpose of the project is to: 1) allow participants to engage in dialogues about issues that affect their daily lives, 2) learn more about what it means to give time, energy and ideas back to their communities, 3) participate in field trips to broaden their imaginations and 4) discuss ways to use their talents to serve the poor and disenfranchised.
Rev. Mac Charles Jones Internship Program
Who was the Rev. Mac Charles Jones
Rev. Mac Charles Jones left behind an incredible contribution to the world. His tireless work as a church leader, theologian, civil and human rights advocate benefited the lives of poor and oppressed people nationally, and abroad. He possessed a deep and profound love for young people, always making sure that their input, thoughts, and ideas were incorporated in all aspects of his work. His leadership and determination to expose the burning and bombing of African American churches in the south resulted in President William Jefferson Clinton declaring the issue a national enforcement priority. Rev. Mac Charles Jones met his untimely death in the midst of his work on this very important issue. He is truly missed, yet the power and purpose of his work carries on.
Internship Requirement
The Rev. Mac Charles Jones volunteer internship program is open to high school seniors, college and undergraduate students pursuing fields of study in criminal justice, law, psychology, sociology, journalism, religion, computer technology and other related fields. The internship makes available a six- (6) week volunteer work experience to aid in strengthening student’s skills in research, analysis and writing, critical thinking, interview techniques, data entry, victim’s assistance field assessments and utilizing problem solving.
Internship daily schedule 6 hours per day-three days a week.
Certificate of Completion: Upon successful conclusion of the internship program students will be awarded a certificate of completion.
